lection season is here, and NYSUT is once again putting the power of our membership behind the ballot box. This fall’s midterms will decide control of Congress and shape the direction of state and local government for years to come, and NYSUT voters will have the tools to be informed.

Watch your mailbox in October for NYSUT’s 2026 Voter Guide. Inside, you’ll find our full slate of endorsed and recommended candidates for federal, statewide and state Senate and Assembly races, along with practical voting information to help you make a plan before Election Day.

NYSUT’s endorsement process is member-driven and non-partisan, beginning with local member recommendations in each district. Endorsed candidates receive grassroots support from NYSUT members — phone banking, door knocking and literature distribution — plus financial contributions made possible through voluntary donations to VOTE-COPE, the union’s non-partisan political action committee. No member dues are ever used to support political candidates.

• Voter registration & absentee/early mail ballot application deadline: Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026
• Early voting period:
  Saturday, Oct. 24–Sunday, Nov. 1
• Last day to apply in-person for an absentee ballot:
  Monday, Nov. 2
• Election Day: Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026
  (polls open 6 a.m.–9 p.m.)
• Absentee/early mail ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 3 and received by county boards of elections no later than Nov. 10
