NYSUT members don’t give up. We show up time and again to keep this issue top of mind for lawmakers because we know 30 years is a career. From February through June, from Buffalo to Westchester, you demonstrated not only our strength in numbers, but the power of our collective voices all calling for the same thing: Fix Tier 6.
Perseverance.
NYSUT members have grit. Together, we weathered snowstorms and thunderstorms, bone-chilling temperatures and extreme heat, to make our voices heard. With your unwavering commitment, we’ll keep pushing forward until victory is ours.
Progress.
Thanks to your advocacy in the last few years, we’ve already won historic pension improvements including dropping member vesting from 10 to five years and reducing the final average salary calculation from five years to three years.
What’s next?
We’re ramping up again with more rallies scheduled across the state this fall and we’re planning to pack an arena full of NYSUT members and union allies in Albany next March when legislators are in session.
